Machine Operator

Department: Maintenance
Location: San Antonio, TX

Lone Star Bakery, Inc. is a fast paced, growing, family business looking for Line Equipment Operators to set up/tear down and operate production line equipment. Operators troubleshoot and repairing automated manufacturing equipment used to manufacture and package bakery products.

Lone Star Bakery, Inc operates up to 24 per day so 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts are available.

Rate of pay begins at $16.50/hour with additional $1/hour for 2nd & 3rd shifts. Higher rate of pay with proven skills & comparable past experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection of machines and equipment and ensure sanitary and in proper working condition prior to start-up and throughout the shift.
  • Set-up and tear down equipment.
  • Minimize packaging downtime and improve yield and quality.
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment and parts.
  • Use maintenance software for work orders and parts location, usage and ordering.
  • Lubricate bearings on equipment when needed.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Review production schedule and ensures that appropriate ingredients are staged and/or mixed.
  • Notify supervisor of product deficiencies and/or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean work area that is free and clear of foreign objects and materials.
  • Train employees and demonstrates best practices when required.

Job Requirements, Education, & Certifications

  • Ability to complete relevant Company documents.
  • Ability to team- lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Company standards.
  • Must have general knowledge of equipment operations and maintenance software.
  • Knowledge of lubricants, power and hand tools.
  • Proven skills in machine operation (vertical/horizontal wrappers, tape machines, box formers).
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills.
  • Must develop troubleshooting skills.
  • Complies with Machine Guarding and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Ability to be on feet all day and perform walking, stooping, and bending functions as required.
  • Ability to work at steady and continuous pace and to keep up with manufacturing production.
